Recreation in Fort Atkinson
Whether you enjoy dipping your feet in the water or prefer dry land, Fort Atkinson has an abundance of exciting leisure opportunities. The meandering Bark and Rock Rivers both lead to the 10,500 acre Lake Koshkonong, where fishing and boating opportunities are all at arm’s length. You can also take advantage of our new bike/pedestrian trail that runs directly through downtown, which can also be used for cross-country skiing and snow shoeing in the winter. Or try skydiving, canoeing, horseback riding and so many of our other recreational opportunities. We can guarantee you won’t get bored!

BICYCLING As on of Wisconsin’s "Rails to Trails” communities, Fort Atkinson is poised to become a destination for cycling enthusiasts of all ages. Our local trail features a new covered bridge and water fountain, and will eventually be linked to the Glacial Drumlin State Trail, which has over 40,000 users annually.
TOUR DE FORT BICYCLE CLUB This local group of cycling enthusiasts meets monthly to explore country roads and rolling farm lands in Jefferson County. Beginners, experts, families and singles are all welcome. Projects include updating area bike trail maps, and the annual Metric Century Tour.
COVERED BRIDGE Located about a half-mile from the Rock-Jefferson County Line, and hailed as a "diamond on a Bike Trail," the bridge was built by the cooperation of the Jefferson County Parks Department, Craig Roost of Fort Atkinson, and a number of volunteers.
ROCK RIVER LAKE KOSHKONOG ASSOCIATION Area boat owners and residents with lakeshore properties work to improve responsible water recreation and host events such as the Annual Corn Boil and Raffle and the Lake Koshkonong Bounty Hunt and Fisheree. Visit: www.rkld.org.
JEFFERSON COUNTY INDIAN MOUNDS AND TRAIL PARK Eleven mounds in this park have been left relatively undisturbed for the last 1,500 years. A walk along the trail provides a glimpse of the sacred traditions of the pre-historic Indians that once inhabited the banks of Lake Koshkonong. Call the Chamber of Commerce for maps: 920-563-3210.
MUSTANG MANOR The only riding stable in the whole U.S. made up entirely of mustangs! Guided trail rides, hay and sleigh rides available with reservations. 920-563-3232
ATMOSPHAIR SKYDIVING CENTER Offering experienced instructors and detailed training programs, the friendly staff of this popular attraction has customers training and jumping from airplanes all in the same day. Clients can choose from Tandem, Static Line or Accelerated Free Fall jumps. 920-568-1700
KOSHKONONG MOUNDS GOLF COURSE Nestled against the shores of beautiful Lake Koshkonong is one of Wisconsin's most picturesque and challenging golf courses. Eleven of the rare Indian effigy mounds abut the 18-hole course, located just south of Fort Atkinson. 920-563-2823
SPRING CREEK GOLF COURSE Featuring a 21,000 square foot putting course, this innovative Par 3 layout offers a unique golfing experience. Triple tee placements allow everyone, from beginners to pros, to take full advantage of the course. 920-563-4499

ROCK RIVER CANOE CO. Located on the riverwalk in historic downtown Fort Atkinson , rent a canoe or kayak and spend the afternoon on the Rock River . Available for purchase are custom-built boats, outdoor equipment and other unique gifts. Bikes are also available to rent for a ride around town or on local bike trails.
RIVERWALK Stroll along the Rock River on Fort's newly constructed riverwalk. With access from Main or Water Streets, take a scenic walk after shopping or eating in our downtown district. Or, simply take a break on the benches and enjoy the beautiful landscaping along the river.
